A Tale of Agony by a Distressed Employee of Tricom India Ltd.

DISCLAIMER: THIS POST IS IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST OF PROFESSIONALS CURRENTLY WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY CALLED TRICOM AS WELL AS A REVIEW FOR THE PROFESSIONALS PLANNING TO JOIN TRICOM IN THE FUTURE. I DO NOT WANT ANYBODY ELSE TO GO THROUGH THE PAIN I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH SINCE AUGUST - JUST BY THE FACT THAT TRICOM DOES NOT PAY ITS EMPLOYEES!

I joined this company called Tricom in July 2011 as a Sr. Technical Architect and was looking after Tech Sales. One month passed, and I was delighted as the date to receive my first salary was approaching near. But that delighted moment never came. I kept waiting for one month, two months, three months to receive atleast a month's salary - but nothing happend. Finally I put down my papers at the end of the third month. And all these three months, I served the company for free :)

Trust me, the management and the HR department is so reluctant, that they did not even bother to communicate the delay in salary to me even once. I kept asking for my salary as the festivals were knocking but luckily I could not celebrate them - as my pocket was empty :) . Nobody was even noticed that!

Even after I was relieved from Tricom, they took a hell lot of time to share my Full and Final settlement amount. They kept me waiting. Last month I received one month salary, that too after frequent follow-ups. But everything went in to clear all my debts and loans from friends which I had taken to sustain for these four months.

Now when I am asking Tricom for my remaining dues, the response is horrendous. The HR is telling me - we cannot help you in this, you have to follow-up with Manan. (Manan is the boy who heads the IT services team at Tricom)

I tried getting in touch with Manan through emails, but there was no response. I sent almost 20 reminder emails, but he did not respond. Finally when I dropped him a sms, he replied -

"Please connect with HR for the same, Thanks, Manan"

Since then I have been trying to connect with the HR Head of the company Ms. Parminder Kaur (http://linkd.in/teT0CO) through emails, smses, but no response AT ALL. Finally I tried reaching her on her mobile, but she is not picking up my calls. I tried calling her almost 100 times a day, but no response. At last, one of my sms worked for me -

Sandeep: "Parminder, atleast have the courtesy to pick up the call! I would like an update about my cheque tomorrow morning! Please understand I am not asking for a charity :)"

Suddenly Parminder became courteous, and she replied -

Parminder: "Sandeep - myself and my team cannot reiterate again and again that we will contact you once your cheque is with HR n we cannot commit any date for the release. "

BLOODY HELL!! It indeed seems like I am asking for a charity or as if I am trying to sell something to these guys and they are just ignoring me. Why aren't they realizing that neither I am begging, nor asking for a loan, I am asking for my hard-earned money which they are liable to pay!

I reverted to her sms -

Sandeep: " Even I am not sitting idle to reiterate again and again that I cannot wait till infinite time to get my dues cleared or follow up with u and your team to get my hard earned money. As per Manan I have to coordinate with you to get my cheque. So please do the needful and give me an update tomorrow morning!"

Now the best one was - the HR head replying -

Parminder: "I cannot give you any definite update".

This was ultimate, it seems that these guys are kidding me and trying to entertain me with the game - Passing the Parcel. The HR Head - Parminder does not have any definite update, and Manan says that I am not the right person for this, please contact HR.

WTF !! What is going on here guys? I really did not know that the management of a Public Limited Organization can be so unorganized. It seems someone controls the company VIRTUALLY. Manan and Parminder make me believe there is some super power who is holding my salary back and controlling the finances, operations everything!!! Infact I have now started feeling that the Public Limited company is wasting its money in paying these so called senior management employees - who are outdated and cannot manage their team for some DEFINITE UPDATE !! What a Pity and Shame!!

Anyways, this is my horrendous tale of trying to retrieve my salary from a Publicly listed compnay. I came in touch with other ex-colleagues and ex-employees of Tricom who have also not received their dues, since months. Some of them are still serving the company because they have to keep the fuel burning at home.

I have now started speaking to Times of India, Hindustan Times, ET and my friends in Star News - trying to find out if they can help me out. If you are reading this post and can suggest a way out, request your help. It will be highly appreciated.

Lenovo Comes Off Age

Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad W700, claimed to be the first-ever 17-inch widescreen mobile workstation engineered to deliver unparalleled performance to data and graphics-intensive user environments, in India. It incorporates the built-in digitiser and colour calibrator in a mobile workstation and combines these innovations with technologies such as new NVIDIA Quadro FX mobile graphics.

The workstation supports the upcoming Intel mobile quad core processor which delivers the ultimate computing performance for mobile computing professionals. In line with Lenovo’s environmental commitments, the ThinkPad W700 meets and exceeds criteria for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star 5.0 programme for computers, which takes effect in July 2009.

Rich Cut Back on Payments to Mistresses

You know times are tough when the rich start cutting costs on their mistresses.

According to a new survey by Prince & Assoc., more than 80% of multimillionaires who had extra-marital lovers planned to cut back on their gifts and allowances. Still, only 12% of the multimillionaire cheaters said they plan to give up on their lovers altogether for financial reasons.

“Rich people are getting hit, and they’re all expressing the need to curtail unnecessary spending,” said Russ Alan Prince, president of Prince & Assoc., a wealth-research firm based in Connecticut. “Lovers are part of the same calculation.”

Of course, any study of millionaires and their mistresses should be taken with a large grain of salt. The survey–a subset of a larger wealth study–polled 191 individuals with a minimum net worth of $20 million who said they had lovers of at least a year or more (this to screen out the one-night stands, etc.). About two thirds of the respondents were men and one third women. All were married and all had personal control over their finances, meaning the women and men surveyed were the primary wealth holders in their homes.

The most surprising stats in the study relate to gender and what might be termed “length of service.” Fully 82% of men in the study said they planned to lower the allowances to their mistresses, while more than three quarters planned to provide fewer gifts, less expensive gifts and fewer perks, like jet rides, resort vacations and top restaurant meals.

Women were far more generous to their paramours in the face of financial crises. Less than 20% planned to lower allowances, gifts and perks, while more than half planned to raise them.

Susan Shapiro Barash, who teaches gender studies at Marymount Manhattan College and wrote “Little White Lies, Deep Dark Secrets,” about why women lie, said women value their lovers more than men in a time of economic trouble. “For the women, lovers matter more than ever now because the rest of life is so dreary,” she said. “For the men, they’re just cutting across the board.”

Ms. Barash added that women may value their lovers more today because their husbands are so miserable. “If your husband lost his job on Wall Street and he’s miserable, you need the escape,” she says.

The duration of the relationship also seems to play a role in the economics of high-end cavorting. The study found that more than two thirds of the millionaires who had been with their lovers for three or more years planned to cut back. That compares with less than half for those with a tenure of one to three years.

“What we found in talking to the respondents is that the magic of the relationship with their lover fades after a while, so they’re more willing to let them go,” Mr. Prince says.

The survey doesn’t mean to suggest that all, most or even a large minority of rich men and women have affairs. It simply is a snapshot of a certain sample at a certain time. Yet it suggests that in a time of financial crisis, it is better to be a kept man than a compensated woman.

Tata Consultancy Services, (TCS) has signed a deal with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, for the Passport Seva Project (PSP). According to the deal the process of issuing a new passport will be now completed within 3 working days while passports issued under the Tatkal scheme will be dispatched on the same day, subject to address and police verification of applicants.

The project cost is valued over Rs. 1,000 crore and will be implemented within a Buy-Own-Operate-Transfer or BOOT framework with pilot projects operation within 19 months. The countrywide roll-out of the Passport Seva Project will take place within six years and the Government will open 77 Passport Filing Centers across the country in a phased manner. TCS will have end-to-end responsibility of implementing this project.

“The Passport Seva Project, based on a public-private partnership model, aims to provide passport-related services to Indian citizens in a speedy, convenient and transparent manner. The sovereign and fiduciary function of granting and issuing passport remains with MEA and TCS will be our technology and operations partner in this project” said Shivshankar Menon, Foreign Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs.

Well, if implemented successfully the Passport Seva Project will enable citizens to enjoy the benefits of a technology-led, service oriented approach ensuring that the proper security, safety and safeguards. Herein applicants will have the option of filling the Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR)-enabled form which along with all relevant documents will be scanned and submitted at Passport Facilitation Centres (PFCs). The PFC will be the primary hubs that will support all activities like biometric capture, photograph, payment and verification and grant of passports in the presence of applicants for most cases. The Passports will be dispatched in three days in case no police verification or post-issue police verification is required based on passport issuance regulations. Complete tracking of process would also be possible in the system. Police nodal offices will be facilitated by TCS personnel and the PP Forms will be downloaded there directly eliminating the logistic delay. A call centre would be established to help the applicants with information regarding passport procedures and the status of submitted requests. Grievances would be tracked and closed.

Calcutta: The land of humanity- Vir Sanghvi

Most modern Indian cities strive to rise above ethnicity. Tell anybody who lives in Bombay that he lives in a Maharashtrian city and (unless of course, you are speaking to Bal Thackeray) he will take immediate offence. We are cosmopolitan, he will say indigenously. Tell a Delhiwalla that his is a Punjabi city (which, in many ways, it is) and he will respond with much self-righteous nonsense about being the nation's capital, about the international composition of the city's elite etc. And tell a Bangalorean that he lives in a Kannadiga city and you'll get lots of techno-gaff about the internet revolution and about how Bangalore is even more cosmopolitan than Bombay. But, the only way to understand what Calcutta is about is recognize that the city is essentially Bengali. What's more, no Bengali minds you saying that. Rather, he is proud of the fact. Calcutta's strengths and weaknesses mirror those of the Bengali character. It has the drawbacks: the sudden passions, the cheerful chaos, the utter contempt for mere commerce, the fiery response to the smallest provocation. And it has the strengths (actually, I think of the drawbacks as strengths in their own way).

Calcutta embodies the Bengali love of culture; the triumph of intellectualism over greed; the complete transparency of all emotions, the disdain with which hypocrisy and insincerity are treated; the warmth of genuine humanity; and the supremacy of emotion over all other aspects of human existence. That's why Calcutta is not for everyone. You want your cities clean and green; stick to Delhi.. You want your cities, rich and impersonal; go to Bombay. You want them high-tech and full of draught beer; Bangalore's your place. But if you want a city with a soul: come to Calcutta.. When I look back on the years I've spent in Calcutta - and I come back so many times each year that I often feel I've never been away - I don't remember the things that people remember about cities.

When I think of London, I think of the vast open spaces of Hyde Park.

When I think of NewYork, I think of the frenzy of Times Square.

When I think of Tokyo, I think of the bright lights of Shinjiku.

And when I think of Paris, I think of the Champs Elysee.

But when I think of Calcutta, I never think of any one place. I don't focus on the greenery of the maidan, the beauty of the Victoria Memorial, the bustle of Burra Bazar or the splendour of the new Howrah 'Bridge'. I think of people. Because, finally, a city is more than bricks and mortars, street lights and tarred roads. A city is the sum of its people. And who can ever forget or replicate - the people of Calcutta?

When I first came to live here, I was told that the city would grow on me. What nobody told me was that the city would change my life. It was in Calcutta that I learnt about true warmth; about simple human decency; about love and friendship; about emotions and caring; about truth and honesty. I learnt other things too. Coming from Bombay as I did, it was a revelation to live in a city where people judged each other on the things that really mattered; where they recognized that being rich did not make you a better person - in fact, it might have the opposite effect. I learnt also that if life is about more than just money, it is about the things that other cities ignore; about culture, about ideas, about art, and about passion. In Bombay, a man with a relatively low income will salt some of it away for the day when he gets a stock market tip. In Calcutta, a man with exactly the same income will not know the difference between a debenture and a dividend. But he will spend his money on the things that matter. Each morning, he will read at least two newspapers and develop sharply etched views on the state of the world. Each evening, there will be fresh (ideally, fresh-water or river) fish on his table. His children will be encouraged to learn to dance or sing. His family will appreciate the power of poetry And for him, religion and culture will be in inextricably bound together.

Ah religion! Tell outsiders about the importance of Puja in Calcutta and they'll scoff.... Don't be silly, they'll say. Puja is a religious festival. And Bengal has voted for the CPM since 1977.. How can godless Bengal be so hung up on a religions festival? I never know how to explain them that to a Bengali, religion consists of much more than shouting Jai Shri Ram or pulling down somebody's mosque. It has little to do with meaningless ritual or sinister political activity... The essence of Puja is that all the passions of Bengal converge: emotion, culture, the love of life, the warmth of being together, the joy of celebration, the pride in artistic expression and yes, the cult of the goddess. It may be about religion. But is about much more than just worship. In which other part of India would small, not particularly well-off localities, vie with each other to produce the best pandals? Where else could puja pandals go beyond religion to draw inspiration from everything else?

In the years I lived in Calcutta, the pandals featured Amitabh Bachchan, Princes Diana and even Saddam Hussain! Where else would children cry with the sheer emotional power of Dashimi, upset that the Goddess had left their homes? Where else would the whole city gooseflesh when the dhakis first begin to beat their drums? Which other Indian festival - in any part of the country - is so much about food, about going from one roadside stall to another, following your nose as it trails the smells of cooking? To understand Puja, you must understand Calcutta. And to understand Calcutta, you must understand the Bengali. It's not easy. Certainly, you can't do it till you come and live here, till you let Calcutta suffuse your being, invade your bloodstream and steal your soul. But once you have, you'll love Calcutta forever. Wherever you go, a bit of Calcutta will go with you. I know, because it's happened to me. And every Puja, I am overcome by the magic of Bengal. It's a feeling that'll never go away.....

A PUBLIC APPEAL TO THE PEOPLE OF BENGAL

What has happened to the people of Bengal ? Have we actually become mindless intellectuals that the people of the world claim we are? Why are we allowing one mad woman to take up a crazy stand with her useless senseless attitude against a set of people whom we all genuinely respect?

When I was young I remember watching a TV commercial elaborating picturesquely all that a company has been doing for its locality – water plants, sanitation, urbanization etc and finally reminding us humbly, that " We also make Steel". With nerves of steel the Tatas came to Bengal albeit for their own investment but also to help us become a slightly more developed state. All through our childhood we have learnt to take the name of the Tatas with reverence not because they are mighty successful industrialists but simply because they are humane, they plough a large share of their profits into the growth process of the people they employ and their accompanying industries.

The Tatas are, to a great extent, single-handedly responsible for changing the face of West Bengal in general and Kolkata in particular. They gave us the magnificent Tata Centre, which they even lit up in the Tri Colour during the half century celebration of the country's independence (remember?). They decided to beautify our beloved Victoria Memorial and lit it up so that the city could see it in the dark nights. Kolkata, once called the Dying City by our erstwhile Prime Minister, was given a total new look by the Tatas.

And today when the Tatas need reassurance, when they need our support in the face of all the madness raised by one mad woman, are we , the people of Bengal going to keep quiet?? Are we going to let our legendary hospitality slip out of the Bengal through Mamata's craziness?

Just take a drive down the highway, (now of course it is out of the question), and you cannot but let out a sigh of despair at the sight of innumerable factories shut down. They have taken the form of horrifying carcasses stinking of shattered dreams of some brave entrepreneur and his family. Years of toil, a lifetime of investment… all gone down the drain because of someone's craziness. Then it was red madness, now it is craziness at the grass root level.

People of Bengal , I ask you, touch your heart and ask yourself, do we really not want this age of insane tyranny to end? 31 years we have been under the red regime, which has finally, probably, (hopefully) learnt its mistake and is trying to steer the state towards a fresh spate of industrialism. We are just beginning to see a faint ray of progress in that red sky. Are we going to allow ourselves to go back to grass root level, only to be trampled under public laughter.

Because that is what will happen to us if the Tatas bid good bye to Bengal .

We will become laughing stock for the world. R. N. Tata will lose nothing if he decides to pull out Tata Motors from Singur. We will lose. We will lose everything, our self-respect, our pride in Bengal , our self-esteem and most importantly livelihood of several hundreds of people of our villages.

My work often leads me to the interiors of rural Bengal . Our little group of three or four people attract hordes of villagers and apart from my professional role I often venture to ask them personal questions about their lifestyle. It has now ceased to surprise me that almost all those people want industrialization. Not that they want to stop agriculture. But they want industrialization of agriculture as well. They want hi tech information, hi tech machinery which will yield better crops and provide them a better lifestyle which in turn will ensure a better `industrial' lifestyle for their children.

Ironical, right? I do not represent either the reds or the grassroots, or the Tatas or anyone for that matter. I am a fiercely patriotic Indian who simply refuses to allow my country to be ruined by a crazy selfish woman. I have been indulging in conversation with several rural people quite near the affected areas of Singur and Nandigram and most of them would rather that the Tata Motors factory begins at the earliest and they embark on a better lifestyle. They sincerely believe that not only will they get a job, they have been paid for their land, a sizable amount which they have invested for their children's future, they are of the firm conviction that working for the Tatas will yield for their families a far better lifestyle which their wee acres of land, divided and subdivided would never be able to.

After all it is the legacy of the Tata Business House to take care of all its people. They are one industry house who do not talk about Corporate Social Responsibility. They live it out and not only we `literate' people, but, `illiterate' village people blindly believe it. Their conviction is written all over their faces.

It is wonderful to dream of a green West Bengal . But what about the nitty gritties for the people who are responsible for the bringing about the greenness of Bengal ? Is Mamata thinking about them? Is she thinking about what they want?

She is like those insecure people who refuse to do any kind of introspection and busy themselves blaming everyone. The Chief Minister should resign if the dog next door sneezes more than a couple of times. The Chief Minister should resign if the cat in Mamata's community decides to elope with a tom cat of a different community. The Chief Minister should resign if he dreams a modern industrialized Bengal . The Chief Minister should resign if… now she has begun to lose track of the number of reasons.

She behaved hysterically every time Bengal has shown the slightest signs of moving forward. I am not saying that the Chief Mister is a saint and she is a devil. (Even the devil would be ashamed). All I'm saying is how long? How long are we going to put up with her antics?

Frankly, I fail to understand why we are putting up with her at all? Why don't we physically throw her out? If she misuses democracy, then why don't we use the power that we have? Our own power. The power of our voice, the power of our pen. The most trusted name in the Indian industrial scenario has uttered the word `unwanted' in our state three consecutive times. Is this what Bengal is? After what the Tatas have done for us?

They bring us light after a long darkness of almost 35 odd years and we turn them out. Who is Mamata to voice the feelings of Bengal ? We are the children of Netaji, the descendants of Vivekananda and several other freedom fighters. Is this what we have become now? A senseless horde of mindless faceless inhuman specimens?

Rise people rise, from your apathy and show the Tata Group of Industries that Bengal cares. Please don't leave Bengal , we beseech them. We share you anxiety but we care for our people. We want progress. Together let us show Mamata that we are not going to be swayed by her cranky madness any more. Enough of bandhs, you mad woman, enough of your crazy heartlessness.

Mamata Banerjee your days are now over. Pack your bags and go elsewhere. We shall bid Tata to you.

People of Bengal, I do not need to tell you that if the Tatas go away then the door through which they leave will be the door of Industrialism, a door which will shut open our faces forever and ever. And then the whole of Bengal will slowly become like that desolate corridor leading up to Chandannagore, with large skeletons of dead factories on either side, only the Singur factory will be looming large in the dead state.

When I heard this song for the very first time little did I know that it would play such an important part in my life. To elaborate they are my lifeline..my courage and witt..My husband and I stay some 2000 kms away from each other, and there are only words that keep us going together. Well, some think we are idiots to live like this..some have actually abused us for it. And at times it really gets in to us and we think negative, but again there are words that keep up the spirit..give us the reassurance that every thing will be fine soon enough. Oh.. oh.. guys hold on to your thoughts before they wander..we didnt run away to get married..we are legally husband and wife with our parents as witnesses but there are a few commitments that had been made previously which we are bound to meet, both professionally and personally, before we see ourselves settling down together.

I never imagined that those three beautiful words 'I love you' could bind two people together, especially when spoken from 2000 kms away. You can never think what reassurance an 'I am there with you' gives..you feel everything will go fine. But trust me its not that easy. There are times when words fall short of emotions..when they are pushed behind and tears take their place..at times what you only need is a silent hug from that very person. And when the realisation, that the person if too far away, sets in it brings with it loads of frustration and sense of insecurity.

The time you get to talk is your own and no one gets to interfere with it..not even nature..if you've decided to converse at a specific time everyday it kinda becomes a norm..and if someday it doesnt happen it get really tough. Is that wrong? Is it being unfair? Maybe but its my time and why would I allow someone snatch it away from me. For people like us who stay away from their spouse its the only means to know about each other and keep up the togetherness. Some might argue that is conversation so necessary that lack of it can lead to troubles? We would say certainly it is needed esp for our genre coz they alternate for physical presence..they have only words to visualise what their better half want to express..trust me its the oxygen for survival.

And I am not being the agony aunt..its a true life experience...

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all repaired their boats and left.

Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment. When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you.

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel, "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat." Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness, let me go with you." "Oh....Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love too, but he was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her!

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went his own way.

There was a millionaire who was bothered by severe eye pain. He consulted so many physicians and was getting his treatment done. He did not stop consulting galaxy of medical experts; he consumed heavy loads of drugs and underwent hundreds of injections.

However, the ache persisted with great vigour than before. At last a monk who has supposed to be an expert in treating such patients was called for by the millionaire. The monk understood his problem and said that for sometime he should concentrate only on green colours and not to fall his eyes on any other colours. The millionaire got together a group of painters and purchased barrels of green color and directed that every object his eye was likely to fall to be painted in green colour just as the monk had directed.

When the monk came to visit him after few days, the millionaire's servants ran with buckets of green paints and poured on him since he was in red dress, lest their master not see any other colour and his eye ache would come back.

Hearing this monk laughed said "If only you had purchased a pair of green spectacles, worth just a few rupees, you could have saved these walls and trees and pots and all other articles and also could have saved a large share of his fortune. I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyse your situation as a professional investor. My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I'm not wasting time here. From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you. The answer is very simple, so let me explain. Put the details aside, what you're trying to do is an exchange of "beauty" and "money": Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square. However, there's a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can't be prettier year after year. Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It's not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worried 10 years later.

By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a "trading position". If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term - same

A telephone operator told me that one day she received a phone call.She answered, "Public Utilities Board." There was silence. She repeated, "PUB." There was still no answer. When she was going to cut off the line, she Heard a lady's voice, "Oh, so this is PUB.Sorry, I got the number from my Husband's pocket but I do not know whose
number it is."

Without mutual trust, just imagine what will happen to the couple if the telephone operator answered with just "hello" instead of "PUB".

NO POINTING FINGERS

A man asked his father-in-law, "Many people praised you for a successful marriage. Could you please share with me our secret?" The

There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband ,because the blind wife cannot see the
faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife. Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wears off, they wake up and discover that
marriage is not a bed of roses. The nightmare begins.

NO OVERPOWERING

Many relationships fail because one party tries to overpower another,or demands too much. People in love tend to think that love will conquer all and their spouses will change the bad habits after marriage. Actually, this is not the case. There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "It is easier to reshape a mountain or a river than a person's character."

It is not easy to change. Thus, having high expectation on changing the spouse character will cause disappointment and unpleasantness.

It would be less painful to change ourselves and lower our expectations..

RIGHT SPEECH

There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "A speech will either prosper or ruin a nation." Many relationships break off
because of wrong speech. When a couple is too close with each other,we always forget mutual respect and courtesy. We may say anything without considering if it would hurt the other party.

A friend and her millionaire husband visited their construction site. A worker who wore a helmet saw her and shouted,"Hi, Emily!
Remember me? We used to date in the secondary school." On the way home, her millionaire husband teased her, "Luckily you married me.

The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey.Then, they met a young man. He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you." Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.

It seems to be the only choice left. Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell
into the river. You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will
be in the future.

Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clear...

BE PATIENT

This is a true story which happened in the States. A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck.The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands. When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, " Daddy,I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?" The father went home & committed suicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or u wish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience with
someone u love. Trucks can be repaired... Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't. Too often we fail to recognise the difference between
the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is greater than revenge.

People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But the actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.

Once A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it.

He held it up for all to see; asked the students, "How much do you think this glass weighs?

'50gms!' ?....'100gms!' .....'125gms' ......the students answered.

'I really don't know unless I weigh it,' said the professor, 'but, my
question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?'
"Nothing" the students said.

OK what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the
professor asked.

Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the students.

You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?' Your arm
could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis; have to
go to hospital for sure! ventured another student ; all the students
laughed.

Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?

Asked the professor. No replied the students Then what caused the arm
ache; the muscle stress?' Instead What should I do?

The students were puzzled. Put the glass down! said one of the
students.

Exactly!' said the professor' Life's problems are something like this.

Hold it for a few minutes in your head; they seem OK. Think of them for
a long time; they begin to ache. Hold it even longer; they begin to
paralyze you.

You will not be able to do anything.

It's important to think of the challenges (problems) in your life, but
EVEN MORE IMPORTANT to 'put them down' at the end of every day before
you go to sleep.

That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh; strong;
can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way!
