Nudge for a Gift This Valentine’s Day with Badhai.in
Celebrate this Valentine’s Day 2013 with your loved ones by nudging them for a gift. Badhai, has launched an initiative ‘Nudge for a Gift’, a light hearted fun-filled application wherein users will be able to nudge their friends and family members for a gift. Friends who have been nudged can then make a selection from an exciting choice of 21 gifts and promise one to the sender.
To make the entire experience more fun-filled and exciting, the user may choose to not like the gift promised, therefore, requesting another selection. And if the user accepts the promised gift, friends can gift an amount through Badhai.in which can be used by the latter for shopping at leading retail and online brands like Croma, Pantaloons, Lifestyle, Snapdeal, Jabong etc. What’s more? The Badhai gift will be sent as a nicely designed e-card.
“Valentine’s Day is second only to New Year’s eve with people across the world celebrating the festival of love. In India too, it is becoming increasingly popular, more so over the last decade. While sending flowers, cards, chocolates and gifts is traditional, Badhai.in brings in an entirely new option to gift not only to the special one but also to close friends and family members, even parents. It re-iterates our commitment to provide the freedom of choice to the gift recipients; giving them the liberty to choose the gift, the amount they wish to spend as well as the brand they want to indulge in”, said Ajay Pandey, CEO and Founder, Badhai.in
The app will be available for Facebook users who can nudge their Facebook friends for Valentine’s Day gifts. So,

leading brands of their choice.
Online gifting portal, Badhai.in has secured USD 200,000 from private investors.
The company recently launched social and group gifting service and will use the fund for marketing and PR activities.
“We have seen good traction, approx 5-6 gifts per day and around
20-25 registrations without actually getting into marketing/advertising
campaigns. Also the ticket size is significant. One of our esteemed user
gifted 33000 to his friend on marriage. Now this shows a significant
trust on the service. We are going to start our marketing campaigns and
are expecting good results out of that.” mentions Ajay Pandey and
Sandeep Debnath cofounders of Badhai.
Parts of the fund will also be used for increasing operational efficiency and focus on building mobile app for the platform.
Of all the newbies riding on the online retail boom, Ajay Pandey has
carved a niche for himself. Explaining what his latest startup Badhai.in (www.badhai.in)
offers, he says, “Badhai is a gifting platform. It’s key differentiator
is that it allows the recipients to choose the gift. Here, users can
gift Badhai vouchers via web and recipients can use it for shopping at
their favourite outlets.”
With an initial investment of `35 lakh,
Badhai hopes to make the gifting experience more enjoyable. This is
Pandey’s second startup and he has teamed up with alumni of IIT-Kanpur
and IIM-Calcutta to run Badhai.
The co-founders of the company are
Tushar Vohra, Sourabh Varma and Sandeep Debnath. This
less-than-a-year-old company has received an overwhelming response.
“Since the launch, we have seen continuous increase in traffic without
spending even a single penny on advertising,” shares Pandey. Badhai
vouchers are valid at retail stores like Croma, Pantaloon, Lifestyle,
etc and also online portals such as Flipkart and Travelguru.
Some
of the key features of the company, as Pandey puts it are, “We give the
choice to the recipients, so one does not need to worry whether the
recipient will like the gift or not. Badhai vouchers can be split into
smaller amounts and used across more than one brand. In addition to
these, recipients can claim their gift over IVR or mobile app and
proceed for shopping at their favourite store when they are at a mall.
Finally,
users using Facebook credentials for Badhai can view key occasions of
their Facebook friends. It makes it easier to track occasions they wish
to gift on.” He seems to be truly at the top of his game and for a
postgraduate from IIT-Kanpur in chemistry, 35-year-old Pandey is a
seasoned entrepreneur.
Pandey plans to market his venture soon.
“We haven’t really started advertising Badhai. Till date, it is through
PR coverage and word of mouth. But we realise that advertising is
crucial to take it to the next level,” he says.

Badhai.in enables India’s first ever Group Gifting to bring about a paradigm
shift in gifting on Social Functions
Mumbai, May, 24, 2012: Badhai.in,
India’s premier online gift voucher company, has launched Group Gifting a first
of its kind in India. Group Gifting is a step forward in making gifting
experience even more enjoyable. By using this unique feature, group of friends
can pool their contribution online and gift jointly on social functions. The
gift, Badhai voucher in this case, can be used at leading retail chains as well
as ecommerce sites thus giving the recipients complete freedom of using it for
what they like. These can be delivered over phone or email or can also be handed
over as print copy.
Badhai.in has enabled social gifting also through
Facebook integration making it possible to track special occasions of Facebook connections
and gift individually or in a group with other Facebook friends.
In recent years, India has seen a very rapid
growth in digital space led by the highly dynamic youth segment. A large number
of young users stay hooked to various social networking sites to keep in touch
with their friends and families. Given this, Group Gifting can become an
exciting phenomenon in India where the Gift market is estimated
at over USD 4 billion.
Expressing delight on the launch of Group
Gifting, Ajay Pandey, CEO and Founder, Badhai.in said; Gifting is seeing a shift towards
preference for vouchers over the traditional option of cash. While store gift vouchers
do not give enough choice, pooling cash is a hassle and may not be practical in
most cases. Badhai.in solves the choice problem by giving recipients complete
control over where to use the voucher. At the same time it makes it convenient
to pool money and gift jointly even when friends are in different geographical
locations.”

DISCLAIMER: THIS POST IS IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST OF PROFESSIONALS CURRENTLY WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY CALLED TRICOM AS WELL AS A REVIEW FOR THE PROFESSIONALS PLANNING TO JOIN TRICOM IN THE FUTURE. I DO NOT WANT ANYBODY ELSE TO GO THROUGH THE PAIN I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH SINCE AUGUST - JUST BY THE FACT THAT TRICOM DOES NOT PAY ITS EMPLOYEES!
I joined this company called Tricom in July 2011 as a Sr. Technical Architect and was looking after Tech Sales. One month passed, and I was delighted as the date to receive my first salary was approaching near. But that delighted moment never came. I kept waiting for one month, two months, three months to receive atleast a month's salary - but nothing happend. Finally I put down my papers at the end of the third month. And all these three months, I served the company for free :)
Trust me, the management and the HR department is so reluctant, that they did not even bother to communicate the delay in salary to me even once. I kept asking for my salary as the festivals were knocking but luckily I could not celebrate them - as my pocket was empty :) . Nobody was even noticed that!
Even after I was relieved from Tricom, they took a hell lot of time to share my Full and Final settlement amount. They kept me waiting. Last month I received one month salary, that too after frequent follow-ups. But everything went in to clear all my debts and loans from friends which I had taken to sustain for these four months.
Now when I am asking Tricom for my remaining dues, the response is horrendous. The HR is telling me - we cannot help you in this, you have to follow-up with Manan. (Manan is the boy who heads the IT services team at Tricom)
I tried getting in touch with Manan through emails, but there was no response. I sent almost 20 reminder emails, but he did not respond. Finally when I dropped him a sms, he replied -
"Please connect with HR for the same, Thanks, Manan"
Since then I have been trying to connect with the HR Head of the company Ms. Parminder Kaur (http://linkd.in/teT0CO) through emails, smses, but no response AT ALL. Finally I tried reaching her on her mobile, but she is not picking up my calls. I tried calling her almost 100 times a day, but no response. At last, one of my sms worked for me -
Sandeep:"Parminder, atleast have the courtesy to pick up the call! I would like an update about my cheque tomorrow morning! Please understand I am not asking for a charity :)"
Suddenly Parminder became courteous, and she replied -
Parminder: "Sandeep - myself and my team cannot reiterate again and again that we will contact you once your cheque is with HR n we cannot commit any date for the release."
BLOODY HELL!! It indeed seems like I am asking for a charity or as if I am trying to sell something to these guys and they are just ignoring me. Why aren't they realizing that neither I am begging, nor asking for a loan, I am asking for my hard-earned money which they are liable to pay!
I reverted to her sms -
Sandeep: " Even I am not sitting idle to reiterate again and again that I cannot wait till infinite time to get my dues cleared or follow up with u and your team to get my hard earned money. As per Manan I have to coordinate with you to get my cheque. So please do the needful and give me an update tomorrow morning!"
Now the best one was - the HR head replying -
Parminder: "I cannot give you any definite update".
This was ultimate, it seems that these guys are kidding me and trying to entertain me with the game - Passing the Parcel. The HR Head - Parminder does not have any definite update, and Manan says that I am not the right person for this, please contact HR.
WTF !! What is going on here guys? I really did not know that the management of a Public Limited Organization can be so unorganized. It seems someone controls the company VIRTUALLY. Manan and Parminder make me believe there is some super power who is holding my salary back and controlling the finances, operations everything!!! Infact I have now started feeling that the Public Limited company is wasting its money in paying these so called senior management employees - who are outdated and cannot manage their team for some DEFINITE UPDATE !! What a Pity and Shame!!
Anyways, this is my horrendous tale of trying to retrieve my salary from a Publicly listed compnay. I came in touch with other ex-colleagues and ex-employees of Tricom who have also not received their dues, since months. Some of them are still serving the company because they have to keep the fuel burning at home.
I have now started speaking to Times of India, Hindustan Times, ET and my friends in Star News - trying to find out if they can help me out. If you are reading this post and can suggest a way out, request your help. It will be highly appreciated.
If somebody wants more detailed explanation, or review, please feel free to get in touch. My contact coordinates are available on my profile!
